Marije de Haan - AFW S/S 2013
Marije de Haan takes her inspiration from the romanticized selvedge of society. This time these are sailors and harbor workers, a looped accordion and sepia toned photographs set the scene of the S/S 2013 show. Looking as if they drunk away their overcoats after a night on the town, the models drifted over the runway, party decorations in tow. The collection comprised of pyjamas and underwear like suits, some knitwear and some very nice leather pieces. It was all kept in a subdued and faded dutch colour scheme, even incorporating a few ‘Pompeblêden’ (the leaves of the waterlily used in the Frisian flag). Closing the show and deepening the sense of melancholy the music faded into ‘Amsterdam’ by Jacques Brel.
